GuatePhoto is a photography festival in Guatemala and will be held in September of 2015. The festival is trying to get together some funds using Indiegogo to get the project realised. I (Pieter Wisse) truly believe that you should consider donating a little and I'll tell you why.
I have been able to visit a great deal of festivals across Europe and several on other continents. Amongst these festivals visited are Rencontres d'Arles in France, Dali International photography festival in China and the Month of Photography Los Angeles. In 2012 I was invited to the 2nd edition of Guatephoto and created a projection for the festival. I was amazed by the high level of photography, the excellent venues, the easy accessibility for the general public, the professionalism and the amount of great photographers that had entered the open call. The entire city of Guatemala had turned into a stage of photography. The founders have a great vision and know how to execute a festival on this scale. I believe this festival is important for the people and country of Guatemala, for photography awareness in Middle America and for photography itself and photographers worldwide.
Several great names are already lined up for the 2015 edition: Martin Parr, Luis Gonzalez Palma and PhotoLucida's Critical Mass Top 50 are just a few examples.
Please consider donating while getting something in return. Only 20 days left to reach their goal!
