Photographer #450: Sølve Sundsbø

Sølve Sundsbø, 1970, Norway, is a fashion photographer and director based in London since 1995 where he studied at the London College of Printing. While studying he assisted world renowned photographer Nick Knight, who became an important mentor to him. Today Sølve is one of the leading photographers in his genre. Among his clients are big names as Yves Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, Cartier and Gucci. He created editorials for the Italian Vogue, i-D and Interview. His series 14 Actors Acting, made for The New York Times, received an Emmy Award in 2011 for New Approaches to News & Documentary Programming: Arts, Lifestyle and Culture. Solve has an experimental approach to his photography, using a vast amount of techniques and styles, creating larger-than-life, sophisticated and innovative images. He is not afraid to tread uncommon paths. For an YSL fragrance campaign he convinced them to create and use an image of a full-frontal male nude, causing some controversy. The following images come from Interview Magazine: Scarlett Johansson, Vogue Japan: The Virgin Spring and W Magazine: The Everchanging Face of Beauty.

Photographer #338: Espen Rasmussen

Espen Rasmussen, 1976, Norway, is a photojournalist and documentary photographer who also works as a picture editor at the biggest Norwegian newspaper. He has traveled extensively throughout the world for his stories, from Brazil to Nepal and from Darfur to Italy. Recently he released the book Transit. He concentrated for several years focusing on the lives of several men and women of the more than 43 million people in the world today that are on the run due to war, political persecution and repression or ethnic conflicts. It documents the people that have embarked on a journey to find a safer haven and a better life. It contains stories from Congo, Colombia, Chad, Bangladesh, Yemen, Serbia, Afghanistan, Syria, Georgia and Norway. Espen won many awards for his photographic work and has been published in many of the major magazines and newspapers. The following images come from the series The many faces of Ukraine, No Way Back, Yemen and Georgia: The Aftermath.

Photographer #181: Rune Guneriussen

Rune Guneriussen, 1977, Norway, is a conceptual photographer. He started to work with objects as chairs, lamps and tables in 2005. He makes installations, most of them in nature and photographs them. Rune searches for his locations all over Norway. "It is an approach to the balance between nature and culture, but also a multiple reading of stories." He has been in various European solo and group exhibitions. The following images come from his portfolio's Wall No.1, Wall No.2 and Wall No.4.

Photographer #040: Simen Johan

Simen Johan, Norway, 1973, makes photographs consisting of many layers of images. These photographs really impress once seen in real size because there are many things to be discovered in them. For instance, the fox in the image below is crying tears. All of the animals in the series Until the Kingdom comes show some kind of human behaviour.

Photographer #014: Jonas Bendiksen

Jonas Bendiksen, 1977, is a Norwegian photographer living in New York. He is a photojournalist, but he is more than that. Represented by Magnum he travels around the globe extensively to the most remote places one could find. In 2008 his book The Places we Live was released. A three year project on poverty all over the world. Two years earlier his book Satellites was presented. He worked seven years in various remote places of the former Soviet Union. The following images come from the series The Places we Live and Satellites.
