Nicolas Dhervillers, 1981, France, is a photographer that keeps fooling it's viewers. What appears as reality is actually a fabricated reality. In his series Tourist he has taken night pictures of remote places in which he relights certain parts creating "non-places". He then went on the internet searching for the most banal holiday snap possible. He combines the two images letting the people be tourists in his images. In the series Préfiguration, Nicolas photographed visitors in the Pompidou Centre in Paris and put them into spaces of the building site of the future Pompidou Centre in Metz. The following images come from the series Tourist #2, Préfiguration and Landscape Painting.
The target of this website is embedded in its name; to post active image-makers until we reach 500 photographers. The photographers can be from any discipline within the photographic range, but they have to be worth looking at and have a certain level of quality. When we get to number 500, we will have a deep database of great photographers.
500 photographers is done by Pieter Wisse, a photographer himself based in Rotterdam, NL. For three years (2009-2012) he was the founder and owner of Four Eyes Photography & Art, a gallery and bookstore based in his hometown that also released Four Eyes Photography Magazine.
Once this website reaches photographer #500 it will be finished and done. It will then only be here with the function of being an archive of amazing photographers of the 21st century.
