Jonathan Waiter, 1980 - 2015, USA, found his love for photography in 2006 while photographing his sister's kids. Late 2008 he became serious about photography and left for The Netherlands to build a strong portfolio. At the end of 2009 he went to New York City where he currently works and lives. He is interested in the subtle darker viral pervasive feelings. He is fascinated by the human perception and how easily it is coloured by our mental outlook on the world. Jonathan also focuses on the artist / subject relationship, a process he beliefs can reveal the emotional vulnerability of the portrayed. He explores this while testing models for various agencies. The following images come from his portfolio's Selected Work I, Selected Work II and his Tumblr site. Update: With sadness we have to report that Jonathan Waiter has passed away January 31st, 2015.
The target of this website is embedded in its name; to post active image-makers until we reach 500 photographers. The photographers can be from any discipline within the photographic range, but they have to be worth looking at and have a certain level of quality. When we get to number 500, we will have a deep database of great photographers.
500 photographers is done by Pieter Wisse, a photographer himself based in Rotterdam, NL. For three years (2009-2012) he was the founder and owner of Four Eyes Photography & Art, a gallery and bookstore based in his hometown that also released Four Eyes Photography Magazine.
Once this website reaches photographer #500 it will be finished and done. It will then only be here with the function of being an archive of amazing photographers of the 21st century.
